了解工程师可以和年代haping the future of climate change: part 1 of 5.

COP 26 bought everyone’s attention on to the increasing threat of climate change. At our Climate emergency conference, we looked at the progress made by the Institution as engineers work towards the climate goals of 2050. Watch this series of videos to find out more.

This recording focuses on influencing the brief. Watch to find out more on:

  • Our clients’ changing landscape
  • Global carbon legislation and their driving factors
  • Insurance considerations in a changing profession

Reasons to watch:

  • Gain an understanding of the increasingly ambitious environment of legislation on zero carbon initiatives
  • 发现新的想法to implement into your projects to reduce the amount of carbon
  • Evaluate how much impact you can have in shaping the future of sustainable structural engineering

Who should view:

All engineers of any level looking to understand more about their professional role in combatting climate change.

Speakers:

Dr Jannik Giesekamis a Chancellor’s Fellow in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of Strathclyde. His research and consultancy focusses on the policy and practices required to deliver a net zero carbon built environment. He’s been involved in the development of widely used guidance documents, roadmaps, and National Indicators and received the 2019 Richard Trevithick Fund Prize from the Institution of Civil Engineers for his work on embodied carbon.

Steve Gilchristis an Engineer/Contractor turned Client Project Director who now runs large development projects in the West End for Grosvenor Britain & Ireland. He uses his experience across the industry to help change the way we design and construct our buildings, ensuring they are optimally designed for their entire life. Recently he ran an Innovation Project at Grosvenor which focused on the circular economy specifically material reuse, and he also Chair’s one of the three UKGBC CE Forum Working Group looking at material reuse.

Caroline Fieldis an RAE Visiting Professor of Structure & Infrastructure Resilience at Loughborough University and an Associate Director for Resilience Security & Risk at Arup.
