This poster describes research into the efficiency of vibrating barriers in the urban environment.

This study aims to numerically and experimentally evaluate the efficiency of vibrating barriers in the urban environment.

Summary:

Recent disasters worldwide manifest the clear need to address the seismic resilience of existing buildings in a different and more affordable way.

The construction industry successfully introduced devices such as isolators and dampers to mitigate dynamic vibrations induced by earthquakes but such devices are rarely used for the protection of existing buildings, as they require substantial alteration of the original structure.

对于她itage buildings, especially in developing countries, those traditional localised solutions might become impractical.

The project studies the efficiency of novel vibrating barriers to improve the seismic resilience in urban areas.
