This Technical Guidance Note introduces the analysis and design methods for post-fixed anchors and explains how they can be applied.

Introduction

The design of post-fixed anchors, also known as fasteners, requires a large number of variables to be considered, along with the ways in which these variables interact with one another. Comprehensive analysis and design methods have been developed to ensure all aspects are considered.

This Technical Guidance Note introduces these methods and explains how they can be applied. It covers both mechanical and chemical fasteners.

However, as anchors vary depending on the manufacturer, the note does not provide specific data on particular anchors, nor include a worked example.

This note concludes a series of three about the design of post-fixed anchors. Readers should ensure they are familiar with Level 1, No. 29:Post-fix anchorsand Level 2, No. 24:Principles of the design of post-fixed anchorsbefore reading this note.
